Police Department Receives $1500.00

Service to the Community

The Baxley Police Department strives to provide a safe and secure hometown for the citizens of Baxley. By sponsoring innovative community based programs, we try to maintain a sense of trust and cooperation with the people we serve.

IN THE SCHOOLS

The Police Department, in cooperation with the Appling County Board of Education, sponsors the Drug Awareness Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) Program and provides School Resource Officers for the Middle and High Schools.

IN THE COMMUNITY

In striving to enhance positive community contact, the department placed an officer in a neighborhood substation provided by the Housing Authority. This officer, in cooperation with community volunteers, sponsors activities such as; limited recreational opportunites, arts and crafts, cultural events, remedial reading and math, and basic cooking skills for kids who might not otherwise have access to them. At least once a month program volunteers sponsor a party, even providing costumes on Halloween!

Always ready to serve, the officers of the Baxley Police Department are dedicated men and women who make a difference in their community. The Police Department welcomes your input, ideas, and suggestions. To contact the Department on line send your email to Chief James Godfrey at, chiefj.godfrey@yahoo.com or call at 367-8305 (non emergency). For any emergency, call 911.
