Appling Community Theatre' Presents.........................
March 23-25, 2007 : "The Music Man" by Meredith Willson
Appling Community Theatre?s (ACT) spring production of ?The Music Man?by Meredith Willson was held March 23-25, 2007.ACT presented four performances in the Appling County High School Fine Arts Center in Baxley, Georgia. This production of ?The Music Man? was presented through special arrangements with Music Theatre International (MTI) and all authorized performance material was supplied by MTI, 421 West 54th Street, New York, NY10019.
Meredith Willson?s ?The Music Man? featured fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill (played by Michael Augustson) as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys? band he vows to organize despite the fact he doesn?t know a trombone from a treble clef. ?The Music Man? also featured music teacher and librarian Marian Paroo (played by Barbara Sue Crane) that was not easily deceived by Harold Hill?s devilish charm.
This award-winning, critically acclaimed Broadway classic presented by ACT was an excellent performance, thanks to it?s quirky & talented characters, charmingly predictable dramatic situations, and one-of-a-kind nostalgic score of rousing marches, barbershop quartets, sentimental ballads, and comical presentation.
The cast of approximately 55 actors/actresses poured their hearts into the performance and wowed the crowd from the moment they stepped on stage; they left the audience begging for more.
